Here are some good resources to help fight illiteracy…

  • Get Ready to Read Activities and educational materials for literacy development. Also includes resources for parents, educators, and librarians. A Spanish (Español) edition is also available. Provided by the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD).
  • The Key: a Newspaper for New Readers
    The Key provides reading material for adults with limited reading skills. These include adults who have not completed their high school educations, those learning English and those with learning disabilities. It s free of copyright for nonprofit, education purposes only.
  • Letter Generator
    You will be prompted to fill-in information to create friendly and business letters.
  • Online Writing Lab from Purdue University
    This site has some good basic information on writing for various reasons.
  • Reading Is Fundamental
    Educational activities and games promoting literacy and reading comprehension. Sections include: Reading Planet, Leading to Reading, Reading Activity Calendars, Read Along Stories for Kids, Literacy Games for Kids, Printable Parent Guides, Booklists, News, e-Cards, and more.
